Tell Me, What’s A Librarian Look Like?

This is what a librarian looks like

This is What a Librarian Looks Like : A Celebration of Libraries, Communities, and Access to Information by Kyle Cassidy

This is what a librarian looks likeLibraries – librarians – in this age of internet-carried information, who needs ’em? Who, indeed? In this photo-rich reflection, Cassidy delves into what librarians and libraries bring to their communities.

Through more than 220 photographs of librarians who share their personal thoughts on what it means to be a librarian, and original essays on libraries by some of our most beloved writers, journalists, and commentators, you can catch a glimpse of how essential libraries – and librarians are to us.

Cassidy writes, “What changes a collection of books into something useful is a librarian: a curator, an indexer, a manager, a gardener who knows what to cut back, what to add, what to highlight, and most of all, what the community around them needs to grow as a society.”

Pictured above are photos of the dedicated, creative “gardeners” we have at Lafayette Public Library, who tend to our needs and help keep our community thriving and blooming.

And thanks to the library fans who make it possible for us to do what we love.
